Acts: These opening verses are packed with activity: Jesus ascends to His Father, leaving His apostles (missionaries) with the promise of the Father to send to them the Holy Spirit. Next, there was a vacancy among these Apostles – Judas, who by now was dead – so, in order to keep their number at 12, the Apostles elected (by lot) Mathias to fill that office. These Apostles, along with 108 others, gathered in the upper room and there to wait and to wait.
