Psalm: 45

Meditation

Judges: Most people find the Book of Judges rather troubling. I don’t see it myself. The Judges ruled in Israel from the death of Samson until Samuel (the last Judge) a period of about 400 years. The prevailing philosophical premise was: “There was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes.” (Judges 21:25) The theme throughout this book is: Israel sins, her enemies then oppress them, as result, and then Israel repents and then God sends them a deliverer (a judge). Jabin, king of Hazor, and his general Sisera, oppressed cruelly them for 20 years.

Gospel:

Matthew 27:55-66

New Testament:

Acts 1:15-26
