Psalm: 34


Judges: The call of Gideon. As I read this passage, I must again give God thanks for the abundance of Bibles we have today. I must constantly remind myself that the Israelites, at that time, did not have easy access to the Scriptures. They needed a good memory but sometimes that was not enough. Gideon encounters the LORD, but he does not know it. When the LORD finally reveals Himself, Gideon says “Prove it!” The LORD passes Gideon’s test so now the LORD gave Gideon a job to do: destroy the Baals. This he does beginning at his own father’s house. The LORD is preparing Gideon for his next venture.
