1 Corinthians: “…on whom the ends of the ages have come.” (v. 11 NRSV) Paul was keenly and sensitively aware of Jesus’ imminent return. He makes constant allusion to it, which, unfortunately for us, is not a foregone conclusion. Paul opens with a reminder of just how God led His people out of Egypt and was repaid for His kindness by constant episodes of unbelief. Let’s allow that these people did not have the guardianship of the Holy Spirit and were at a disadvantage in walking by faith. Still… God continued to care for and protest them. May we be as sensitive of Jesus’ return as was Paul.
