Joshua: The LORD will witness to the Hebrews, in a spectacular way, His confirmation of Joshua as leader of this “Chosen People”. The pity is that we, God’s own people for, I think, our memories are just as short as the ancient Hebrews, but we have less of an excuse. There were very few copies of the Torah – besides, few know how to read. We, on the other hand, have myriad copies of the complete Scripture – can’t we learn from the Jews’ mistake? The vivid event for this generation of Jews who had not witnessed the flight (exodus) from Egypt: the parting of the Jordan River in order that they might pass over.
