Psalm: 17

Meditation

Romans: Paul has a recurring theme running throughout his letters: he wants to make the Jews jealous of the joyful life of the Gentile Christians. He has said that he would be willing to trade his salvation for theirs (the Jews). That particular office belongs solely to Jesus. Paul also points out the danger of arrogance among non-Jewish believers, so Paul wants them through the metaphor of the root and branches (much as Jesus had) that it is faith that keeps the branch alive.

Gospel:

Matthew 25:14-30

New Testament:

Romans 11:13-24

Old Testament:

Joshua 2:15-24
