Proverbs: I guess I forgot just how often wisdom and wealth are juxtaposed in Proverbs, so here we go again. Regardless of how wise one is, he cannot outsmart God. We all recognize that God made everything – wait a minute, I built my house not God. The answer to that is in the next verse: “The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but the victory belongs to the LORD.” (v. 21:31) The philosophical tenant is that God is the first cause – the so-called “un-caused cause” as it were.
