Romans: In this passage, my first connection to Jesus’ final message to His apostles/disciples just before His ascension or what we refer to as “The Great Commission” as found in Matthew 28:18-20. Paul wants to make the Jews jealous in the hope that that will lead them to Christ. It is also important to keep in mind that witnessing is hardly limited to speech. As had often been attributed to St. Francis of Assisi: Preach the gospel always, use words when necessary.
