Psalms: 82, 84

Numbers: We are now introduced to a new face – Balaam, apparently a “world famous” prophet. Balak, king of Moab, sought out Balaam to curse Israel for a hefty price. Balak and the Moabites were terrified of Israel. The Moabites were distant relatives of the Hebrews through Abraham’s nephew Lot. Balaam tells Balak that he is willing to curse Israel but that he must only speak what the LORD says, three times the LORD put obstacles in Balaam’s way – the last being his donkey who objected to Balaam’s threats to kill him. So, a talking donkey…?
