Psalms: 98, 100
Meditation
Acts: What is being described here is the first of 7 Church councils (the remaining 6 were chronicled by the Church Fathers). The purpose of the councils was to resolve very serious doctrinal issues which plague the Church from time to time. This one was to settle the issue of circumcision – an acknowledgement of God’s Covenant with Abraham. As one reads through the Old Covenant (O.T.) it is clear from the beginning that there is no difference between Jew and Gentile. Jesus’ sacrifice was sufficient enough to remove any need for circumcision.
