Psalm: 108

Meditation

Matthew: These verses cover a testy subject: divorce. It can be argued that throughout the Scripture is a theme of God being married to His people. In Genesis, marriage is established by God between Adam and Eve. In Revelation, the final chapter, we are tantalized by the prospect of the “Marriage of the Lamb”. Consider: “For I hate divorce…” Malachi 2:16. The Church, as a whole, is considered the “Bride of Christ”, which should set our own attitude regarding this. The Scripture allows for divorce upon the infidelity of either of the partners (personally, I think physical and sexual assault also qualify as infidelity).

Gospel:

Matthew 19:1-12

New Testament:

Romans 3:9-20

Old Testament:

Num. 13:31—14:25
