Psalm: 106

Meditation Numbers: These verses speak principally of the holiness of God. The LORD had made it clear that only the sons of Aaron would be privileged to serve at the altar of God. Dathan, a Reubanite, his brother Abiram, and Korah (alas, a son of Levi) rebelled against Moses by endeavoring to turn the people against Moses and the LORD. What happens next is their total destruction (very nicely portrayed in DeMilles The Ten Commandments – with some editorial license.) The resulting plague was stopped because Moses acted as a mediator between the people and God, as Jesus will do later.

Gospel: Matthew 20:1-16

New Testament: Romans 4:13-25

Old Testament: Numbers 16:36-50
