Numbers: Two more episodes are unfolded here. First, Edom. Moses referred to Edom as Israel’s brother. That is literally true. Israel and Edom were twin sons of Isaac. We know them better Jacob and Esau. So, here we are centuries later still living out that family feud (review Genesis 25:23, 29-34; 27:1-40). Jacob got the blessing of the first-born (though he was not the first-born). The second issue is the death of Aaron. He dies atop Mount Hor and it is there that the priesthood is conferred upon Aaron’s 3rd son Eleazar (see Leviticus 10:1-3 to see the fate of Aaron’s first two sons.)
