Meditation: Genesis – Abram becomes Abraham and Sarai becomes Sarah as a sign of their covenant with God. The idea of renaming oneself as a symbol of a commitment is not unheard of. Nuns taking their vows choose a new name, typically one connected to a saint, as a symbol of commitment to their vows and to God. What symbols of commitment to others and to God can you think of?
