Psalm: 66

Meditation: John – Bread was an important staple for almost every culture at the time of Jesus. People would survive on bread alone if they were too poor for anything else. Bread is certainly important to Jewish history, such as the need for unleavened bread during the Egyptian plagues and the miraculous manna that fell from the heavens during their 40 years in the desert. All of these breads may have kept starvation at bay, but they did not stop the person who ate them from eventually dying. Only one bread has the power to halt death completely, and the is the Bread of Life from Christ Jesus. What do you think it means for Jesus to be the Bread of Life for us today?

Gospel: John 6:41-47

New Testament: Colossians 3:12-17

Old Testament: Proverbs 9:1-6
