Psalms: 19
Meditation
Amos: Amos was a sheep breeder or shepherd from Judah sent to prophesy to Israel during the time of King Jeroboam II in about 754 B.C. He does not see himself as a prophet but as one burdened and outraged by the sin (idolatry) he witnesses in Samaria. The greatest sin was that of a molten calf in Bethel (south) and also one in Dan (north) intended to dissuade the Samaritans from returning allegiance to Judah. He describes impending disaster on Samaria which came within 30 years.
Gospel: Matthew 21:23-32
New Testament: 2 Peter 3:1-10
Old Testament: Amos 3:12 – 4:5
