Psalms: 35

Meditation

Matthew: “It is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.” (v. 23) Whether we know it or not this issue is at the core of our daily walk with the Lord. We can’t help but think that if we follow “the straight and narrow” (Matt. 7:14) that the reward (here) will be a stress-free life. The rich have a difficult time in surrendering their lives mainly because their need or dependence on God is so much less. Our God wants us to be completely dependent upon Him (“Give us this day our daily bread,” (Matt. 6:11)). Sounds rather “hand to mouth.” God seeks and desires to be generous to us.

Gospel: Matthew 19:23-30

New Testament: 1 Peter 2:1-10

Old Testament: Obadiah 15-21
