Thanksgiving (US)

Psalm: 65

Meditation

James: “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, Who does not change like sifting shadows.” (v. 17) Thanksgiving is that one civil holiday which impels us to be grateful to God for all His abundant blessing. We celebrate the Lord’s Supper twice a month – those two Sundays are a call to us to remember to give thanks as we remember the Lord’s death until He come. James talks of God not being like “shifting shadows” and us (or rather, some of us) as forgetting our own image from a mirror once we walk away.

Gospel: Matthew 20:1-16

New Testament: James 1:17-18, 21-27

Old Testament: Deuteronomy 8:1-3, 6-20
