Revelation: “Then the angel carried me away in the Spirit into the desert.” (v. 3) Whatever spin you may want to put on this, we have seen this before in Ezekiel. Elijah was also one who was carried by the Spirit hither, thither, and yon. Because of Babylon’s close association with the destruction of Jerusalem, it has become easy to ascribe to any enemy of the Jews as being “Babylon”. The destruction of the Babylonian Empire would have been a welcome sight in any case.
