Psalm: 18

Meditation

Jeremiah: I don’t know what “prophet of the LORD” meant to the people of Jeremiah’s day – probably no more than we do of a favorite or not-so-favorite preacher. The thing is Jeremiah was much more than ordinary. He, for his day, was a mouthpiece for God yet they threw him into an old well and would have left him there but for an Ethiopian, Obed-Melech, by name. Jeremiah had the nerve to say that Jerusalem would be destroyed by the Babylonians.

Gospel: Matthew 10:34-42

New Testament: 1 Corinthians 14:26-40

Old Testament: Jeremiah 38:1-13
