Jeremiah: Jeremiah is commissioned to tell the exiles just what they don’t want to hear. These people were carried away against their will and now Jeremiah is telling hem to settle in and raise new families, build homes and support the enemy king. The LORD tells them: “I know the plans I have for you… plans to prosper you and not to harm you. (v. 11) Whereas those who remain in Jerusalem will meet with famine, plague, and the sword.
