Psalm: 77

Meditation

Matthew: I think Jesus wants us to know just how insidious sin is. Here we see that sin is much more than things we do or do not do – sin appears to be stamped or emblazoned on our souls. Because one doesn’t do something does not mean he has not sinned. Calling someone “fool” seems innocuous to us but here it carries with it the “danger of the fire of hell.” (v. 22) Thus I may say, sin is much worse than I imagine it to be.

Gospel: Matthew 5:21-26

New Testament: 1 Corinthians 4:8-21

Old Testament: 2 Kings 5:1-19
