1 Corinthians: Paul hopes to affirm these Corinthians by emphasizing that their plight (not all that wise, not “movers & shakers”, not noble – v. 20) is precisely how God will use them to underscore His plan the meek shall inherit the earth (Matt. 5:5). Mary’s prayer in Luke 2 also captures this spirit beautifully and if you need to go further back only look to Hannah in 1 Samuel 2. These all say the pretty much same thing.
