Psalm: 71

Meditation

Matthew:  This passage is perhaps the third most known after the Lord’s Prayer and the Twenty-third Psalm. These pithy sayings are collectively called “The Beatitudes” because each begins with the word “blessed” or “happy”. These beatitudes strike one as progressive – like stages of the Christian walk. One will never feel blessed while being persecuted without first having been blessed by being poor in spirit. Where would you fall if we were to use that scale.

Gospel: Matthew 5:1-10

New Testament: 1 Corinthians 2:14 – 3:15

Old Testament: 1 Kings 22:29-45
