Psalm: 84

Meditation

1 Kings: Billy Graham is probably the nearest point of reference we have to what Elijah was like (though not nearly close enough). Elijah was experiencing a crisis of faith. He retreats to Mount Horeb (Sinai) and, like Moses, he will “see” God. So, there was an earthquake – no God; a mighty wind – no God; a raging fire – still no God. But then “a gentle whisper” (v. 12) and there He was. The question: “What are you doing here Elijah?” (v. 13) suggests that God is not through with him yet.

Gospel: John 11:45-57

New Testament: Acts 5:34-42

Old Testament: 1 Kings 19:8-21
