Psalms: 38

Meditation

Mark: Jesus is before a reluctant Pilate. The chief priests and the Jews were determined that Jesus should be condemned and so “persuaded” the crowds to ask for a murderer to be released to them. Pilate could not afford to set Jesus free because of the threat of full-scale riot. Pilate’s principal job was to prevent just that. So, the “religious” demanded instead the freedom of a known killer.

Gospel: Mark 15:1-11

New Testament: James 3:1-12

Old Testament: 1 Kings 9:24 – 10:13
