Psalm: 15

Meditation

James: The “catholic” (or “universal”) epistle of James can be considered a handbook of the Christian life. From beginning to end this letter teems with sage advice for the believer. Case in point: do not judge by appearances. The discussion of the poor is just a carryover from the Old Covenant (O.T.). It is in the OT where we see God’s warm heart for the poor. Jesus spent a great amount of time in defense of the poor. The Book of Ruth describes the ideal economics for God’s people.

Gospel: Mark 14:53-65

New Testament: James 2:1-13

Old Testament: 2 Chronicles 6:32 – 7:7
