1 Kings: While David lived, he prepared materials for the building of the Temple. He had been told by Nathan that prophet that it was not the LORD’s house he was to build but rather the LORD was going to build David’s house. So, David had amassed much gold, silver, and precious stones for Solomon. While David engaged in much war, Solomon ushered in an era of peace – fitting given his name – or as we may say “shalom” (peace).
