Psalm: 82

Meditation

Mark: What does it mean when Jesus says: “He must deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me?” (v. 34) This is the high cost of discipleship – even as Jesus told the rich young man: “Sell everything you have and give to the poor and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come and follow me.” (Luke 18:22) Regardless, the cost is high. As Paul puts it this way: “You are not your own; you were bought with a price.” Not that many takers.   1 Cor. 6:19)

Gospel: Mark 8:34 – 9:1

New Testament: Acts 19:1-10

Old Testament: 2 Samuel 9:1-3
