2 Samuel: David had just learned from Nathan, the prophet, that while David had burning desire to build the LORDa house it was not to be. David was disappointed but the LORD had a counteroffer: the LORD would build a house for David that would last forever. This particular promise resonates for the next 1,000 years until the Magi announced to King Herod, “Where is He Who is born King of the Jews?” (Matt. 2:2)
