Psalm: 88

Meditation

This recounts Nathan’s bold rebuke of David. This was wonderfully courageous. If you’re going to call out your king about adultery and murder, you had best know our audience. David had the power of life and death over his subjects. We saw how he dispatched Uriah the Hittite the hapless husband of Bathsheba. David’s judgment of the “rich man” in Nathan’s story was just and when he realized he was the “rich man”, he saw how just he was. The LORDhad very recently told David of his eternal house and now this! David must have felt himself to be a big disappointment to the LORD. “The LORDhas taken away your sin.” (v. 13)

Gospel: Mark 9:14-29
