Psalm: 52, 54

Meditation

1 Samuel: These verses show yet King Saul’s maniacal obsession in tracking down David in order to secure his own place in history. David’s response is the same as the first time Saul made an attempt on his life. Here David’s men urge him to slay his enemy Saul, but David chose rather to cut off a corner of Saul’s robe to show just how close behind him David was. I’m sure Paul (the Apostle) knew this passage and, I suppose, could have it in mind when he wrote of civil authority in Romans 13:1-7. Read the Romans passage as an encouragement to obey the civil authorities.

Gospel: Mark 4:1-20

New Testament: Acts 13:44-52

Old Testament: 1 Samuel 24:1-22
