Psalm: 69
Meditation
1 Samuel: Jonathan, King Saul’s son, and David were fast friends. Jonathan was aware of two rather important facts: 1) Jonathan’s father, Saul, wanted Jonathan to succeed him as king and 2) that David had already been anointed by Samuel as the next king. Saul suffered from bouts of madness, which today, we might classify as a bi-polar condition. Saul waxed hot and cold toward David, yet, as Jonathan had pointed out: “He [David] has not wronged you, and what he has done has benefitted you greatly. (v. 4)
