Psalm: 139

Meditation

Romans: The end of chapter 11 is an eloquent doxology – i.e. “the pen of a skillful writer” (Psalm 45:1) It is beautiful. Next, Paul urges us to present our bodies as a “living sacrifice”. (v. 1) He then explains that “this is holy and pleasing to God – this your spiritual act of worship.” (v. 12:1) All too often most of us are trying to discern God’s will and for most of us it is more in the nature of guess what God’s will is. Paul’s solution is that we “be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is.” (v. 2)

Gospel: Matthew 25:14-30

New Testament: Romans 11:33 – 12:2

Old Testament: 1 Samuel 23:7-18
