Psalm: 68

Luke: This is Luke’s rendition of what happened the evening of Jesus’ resurrection. I don’t know what Jesus did all day; (after his chat with Mary Magdalene) but He’s off to Emmaus and dazzles a couple of disciples shortly thereafter. He appears to the disciples locked doors notwithstanding and startled them all. “Why are you troubled and why do doubts rise in your minds?” (v. 38) They were, in fact, terrified; is this a ghost? So, Jesus displays His calling card: “Look at My hands and My feet…” (v. 39) Then He asks for food – so much for the ghost theory.

Gospel: Luke 24:36-53

New Testament: Acts 10:17-33

Old Testament: 1 Samuel 16:14 – 17:11
