Luke: Here we see people seeking to do evil against Jesus as He is “prepped” for death. We have seen it again throughout WWII among all the Axis powers. This wanton misuse of power finds it rationale in “we were only following orders”. The Roman soldiers of Jesus’ time and the brown shirt thugs of Hitler were no different. Jesus faced at least 2 “false” witnesses before being sentenced to death — that was the law. (See Deuteronomy 17:6)
