1 Samuel: Israel is beginning to whine like a child: “We want a king…We want a king.” Samuel is displeased because apparently the people don’t want the LORD to be their King. Even Moses could see this coming some 400 years before. Still, Samuel took this personally, but the LORDtold him to anoint them a king. Samuel gives the people dire warning but to no avail which was realized in 1 Kings 12:1-17
