Luke: “David calls him ‘Lord.’ How then can he be his son?” Turnabout is fair play. These lawyers continually try to trip up Jesus, so he just gave them something to think about. What David may have meant may not have had any bearing on what the Holy Spirit was doing. David may have been referring to his own son Solomon when he once was crowned, and he would thus be his (David’s) lord.
