Psalm: 77

Meditation

Luke: This is a thinly veiled prophesy of Jesus’ death. The servants here represent the prophets who were more and more abused as time wore on. The “son” of course, is Jesus Who came to be killed outside of Jerusalem – “out of the vineyard”. (v. 15) In Jewish law if a landowner has no heir to the property the landowner could transfer it to those who worked it. (See Genesis 15:1-3) This is where any similarity ends – Jesus rises from the dead (so still heir).

Gospel: Luke 20:9-19

New Testament: Acts 1:1-14

Old Testament: 1 Samuel 1:1-20
