Romans: “…offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God.” (v. 1) Much of the letter has been concerned with God’s mercy. Offering our bodies may mean in the sense of the “new life” given us by the Holy Spirit. The OT required living sacrifices to be offered (killed) but, no more. If NT saints are going to be killed, it will be in defense of the gospel and that they would give up their lives joyfully.
