Psalm: 139

Meditation

Jesus began his public ministry by being baptized by John (the Baptist). Quickly, John acknowledged that rather, he himself should be baptized by Jesus (Matthew 3:13-15). John was later thrown into prison by King Herod (likely grandson of the infamous Herod the Great, slaughterer of young children) and as naturally happens, one’s spirit may flag, such as happened here. Jesus reassures John that He is exactly whom John thinks Him to be. Jesus recites the work He has been doing from healing a headache to raising the dead and then announcing the gospel. Notice the order of the signs.

Gospel: Luke 7:18-35

New Testament: Colossians 3:12-17

Old Testament: Daniel 8:18-27
