Easter (Resurrection Sunday)
Psalm: 149
Meditation
John: I doubt I shall ever fully understand the great significance of these 18 verses. If these verses were all we had of the bible, I think it would be enough. John introduces us to the “Word” by whom all things were created, as God’s only Son. He then tells us the in the greatest act in all of creation, this Word was then incarnated and then lived among us. Without this, there is no resurrection.
Gospel: John 1:1-18
New Testament: Colossians 3:1-4
Old Testament: Exodus 12:1-14
The Word is the result of speaking and not as such a person. The apostle John refers to the promise of God made in the Garden of Eden. There He mentioned and foresaw someone coming out of a woman who would bring salvation for mankind, breaking the curse of death. That promised one is the Nazarene Jew Jeshua ben Josef (Jesus Christ). By his birth the promise or the Word spoken in the garden of Eden became a reality and became in the flesh. It is not God Who would have come into the flesh, like so many wrongly think.
