Jeremiah: As the reading tells us, Jeremiah was called to be a prophet even before he was born. So, when he says he was a “child” he really was. Jewish boys enter a rite of passage to manhood at age 13 (bar-mitzvah). So a child and not a child. NOT CONNECTED: Ishmael was circumcised when he was 13 – just noteworthy.
