Psalm: 108

Meditation

Isaiah: Isaiah is describing lip-service to God and quid pro quo (something for something) – about an equal dose of both. The ideal is to pray in thanksgiving for what we have received and in praise to God for Who He is. If you want to please God, this reading offers several suggestions which bear a striking resemblance to Jesus’ summation “Love thy neighbor as thyself.” (Matt. 19:19 KJV) Doing this will bring its own blessings even if it only takes one’s eyes off oneself for but a few minutes.

Gospel: Mark 9:30-41

New Testament: Galatians 6:11-18

Old Testament: Isaiah 58:1-12
