Meditation
Mark: “Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant.” (v. 43) I glom on to this verse simply because we had a recent sermon on this very subject – only to mention the foot washing ritual we encourage each Maundy Thursday. Certainly, if Jesus came to save can we do any less? Jesus had just told the 12 what was soon to happen to Him. James and John, as though oblivious to what Jesus had just told them, wanted to secure their own “real estate” in the coming kingdom. How frustrating for the Lord.
