Psalm: 91

Meditation

Mark: The disciples couldn’t help it; we can’t help it; it is just one of those things: we think we can do anything. The disciples had experienced a thrilling sense of success when Jesus had sent 70 of them to bring the good news to the Jewish communities. Because of this success the disciples thought they were invincible, i.e., could do anything. Imagine how this particular defeat (not being successful in driving out this demon) made them feel. So both in rain and in sunshine we still need Christ.

Gospel: Mark 9:14-29

New Testament: Galatians 5:25 – 6:10

Old Testament: Isaiah 57:3-13
