Psalm: 116

Meditation

Mark: This is Mark’s rendering of Jesus’ feeding of the 5,000. Previously, Jesus had sent the 12 out to preach the gospel (“good news” that God is proclaiming victory over sin and death) to the villages and towns. Now they returned excited and joy-filled, but, I suppose, a little tired. Jesus’ concern for them was that they get some rest – He was much less concerned about His own rest. A large crowd (5,000 men not counting women and children) was the mass that moved around Him. This crowd was hungry, and so He took it upon Himself to feed them.

Gospel: Mark 6:30-46

New Testament: Galatians 3:1-14

Old Testament: Isaiah 49:13-23
