Revelation: We looked at the church in Smyrna on Wednesday. The church in Philadelphia (located in western Turkey) shares the same distinction – she receives no rebuke from the Lord. Perseverance is key here – don’t give up. “To him whoever overcomes …” is written to all the churches, like a theme. Important in this particular case is “I am coming soon.” (v. 11) That is meant as an exhortation. It applies to them and to us.
