Psalm: 124, 125, 126

Meditation

Revelation: Of the two churches we will look at today, consider this: Smyrna received no rebuke from the Lord. Simply put, Jesus tells them to persevere – their crown of life awaits. The other church, Pergamum, while commended for not renouncing their faith, allowed pernicious heresies, among them, Nicolaitanism, which allowed for believers to live a life of license. This antinomianism (to sin without regard to Jesus’ life and death) is described in Hebrews 10 as “trampling the Son of God under foot.”

Gospel: John 4:46-54

New Testament: Revelation 2:8-17

Old Testament: Isaiah 59:15-21
