John: A fascinating factoid about the gospel of John is that just under half of it is focused on the last week of Jesus’ life. You may be sure that what Jesus says here (His last night alive until…) is of utmost importance. No Parables, metaphors or “figures of speech” It is all too important. What Jesus says here is expanded upon by St. Paul in his letter to the Colossians (1:15-20) and in Philippians (2:5-8). Jesus’ last night was thinking about and serving others If it were I, I would have been considerably more self-centered!
